BACK TO THE FUTURE ZONE

Great Scott! Its the Comic Con Scotland Back to the Future Zone!

It's been nearly 35 years since Back to the Future roared onto cinema screens everywhere, and Robert Zemeckis' time travel adventure comedy remains one of the most influential and popular films to come out of the whole of the 1980s. The story of Marty McFly played by Michael J. Fox, a young man who just happens to be friends with the man who manages to invent time travel Doc Brown, played by Comic Con Scotland special guest, Christopher Lloyd, is a fast-paced, endlessly rewatchable journey back to the 1950s.

Throughout the first film Marty must contend with familiar bullies, help his Dad find the courage to be who he's supposed to be, and get his mum to the dance on time, even though she'd rather be dating him (it's complicated stuff).

The film's production design, iconic score, and soundtrack featuring Huey Lewis and the News made it an instant blockbuster upon release in 1985, and near-constant rewatching ever since has made it a modern classic. We are so very, very exzcited to bring part of this magic to you at Comic Con Scotland this year with our amazing Back to the Future Zone!

THE CLOCK TOWER

BACK TO THE FUTURE SERIES

Probably the most famous set of the Back to the Future series, The Hill Valley Courthouse and Clock Tower, underwent several changes over the course of its 130-year history. It was first constructed in 1885 and was struck by lightning during an electrical storm on November 12, 1955. This fused the clock's internal mechanism and stopped the clock at 10:04pm.

BTTF MINI MUSEUM

BACK TO THE FUTURE SERIES

This BTTF prop display, the largest of its kind in the UK, has been 34 years in the making and features original screen used items from the movies, including a Hoverboard, Marty and Doc’s Walkie-Talkie and the rehydrated pizza wrapper to name but a few, as well as many high-end custom replicas such as Griff’s Pitbull Hoverboard (the only one of its kind in the UK) and many, many more.

THE DELOREAN

BACK TO THE FUTURE SERIES

The DeLorean time machine as featured in the Back to the Future franchise was built by Dr. Emmett L. Brown and based on a DeLorean car, to allow him to gain insights into history and the future. Instead, he ends up using it to travel over 130 years of Hill Valley history with Marty McFly to change the past for the better and to undo the negative effects of time travel.

LYON ESTATES LION

BACK TO THE FUTURE SERIES

Lyon Estates was a housing subdivision located two miles south of downtown Hill Valley where the McFlys lived in Back to the Future. In the 1955 segment of the film, Lyon Estates was in the very early stages of construction, with only the famous lion statues in place and groundbreaking scheduled for the coming winter.

BRAINWAVE ANALYZER

BACK TO THE FUTURE SERIES

The brain-wave analyzer was one of the inventions Emmett Brown created in 1955. It was intended to allow him to read someone else's thoughts. It consisted of a helmet with a metal geodesic framework that held several cylindrical devices pointed at his head, with electrical wires that led from each of these devices to either a small helmet strapped to his dog's head.

The Hill Valley Sign

BACK TO THE FUTURE SERIES

Hill Valley, California, was the hometown of the McFly family, the Brown family, the Tannen family, as well as several thousands more including the Strickland family in Back to the Future. The city has three high schools including Hill Valley High School. It has a welcome billboard which alters through the years but ultimately keeps the same design.
